Job summary

Amazon Economics is seeking a Structural IO Economist Intern for Summer 2027. This full-time internship (40 hours per week) offers hands-on experience analyzing large datasets to model strategic decisions and inform business optimization.

As a 3rd-year PhD student in Economics, you will work with economists and business leaders applying discrete choice models, dynamic structural methods, and game-theoretic ideas to real-world problems such as pricing, competition, and market design.

Qualifications

• 3rd year or greater PhD student in Economics or related field.
• Knowledge of data analysis languages (R, Stata, Python) or other statistical software preferred.

Responsibilities

• Analyze large-scale datasets using structural econometric techniques to solve complex business challenges
• Apply discrete choice models and methods (BLP, nested logit) and models with alternative distributional assumptions
• Utilize dynamic structural methods including dynamic models of decisions over time and applied game theory
• Build datasets and perform data analysis at scale
• Collaborate with economists, scientists, and business leaders to develop data‑driven insights and strategic recommendations
• Tackle pricing analysis, competition modeling, strategic behavior estimation, contract design, and marketing strategy optimization
• Help partners formalize and estimate business objectives to drive optimal decision‑making and customer value
• Build and refine comprehensive datasets for in‑depth structural economic analysis
• Present complex analytical findings to business leaders and stakeholders
