Job summary

Kimley-Horn is seeking Engineering students to join our Los Angeles, CA office for an on-site internship focused on structural engineering and transportation projects. You will gain hands-on experience using AutoCAD, Civil 3D, Excel and other software to analyze, design, and produce deliverables for bridge projects.

You will work with engineers across disciplines to solve complex problems while learning regulatory practices and Kimley-Horn standards.

Qualifications

  • Must be in the process of earning an ABET-accredited engineering degree (Bachelors or Masters).
  • Majors can include Civil and/or Environmental Engineering, Structural Engineering, Mechanical, Electrical, Biological, Biosystems, Chemical, or Agricultural Engineering.

Overview

Kimley-Horn is looking for Engineering students to join our Los Angeles, California (CA) office! This is not a remote position.


Responsibilities


  • Utilize technical software programs on a regular basis to analyze, produce, and QC deliverables for our clients.

  • Contribute to the pre-construction on structural projects like bridges, retaining walls, and other structural design efforts related to public and/or private bridge projects.

  • Prepare bridge/structural plans, specifications and estimates for clients

  • Solve complex problems, assist project managers, and collaborate across disciplines to produce our clients’ visions for the future built environment.

  • Develop familiarity with the federal, state, and local regulations, as well as Kimley-Horn’s and our client’s practices, procedures, and standards.

  • Structural Interns will learn one or more software programs: AutoCAD, Civil 3D, Excel, Microstation, VISSIM, Open Roads, Synchro and/or GIS


Qualifications


  • In the process of receiving an ABET accredited engineering degree (Bachelors or Masters) in one of the following majors:

  • Civil and/or Environmental Engineering

  • Structural Engineering

  • Mechanical, Electrical, Biological, Biosystems, Chemical, or Agricultural Engineering

  • Engineering Technology


Hourly Range: $31 - $32
