Job summary

Kimley-Horn is seeking engineering students to join our Kansas City, MO office for an on-site internship. You will gain hands-on experience on bridge and structural projects while continuing your ABET-accredited degree.

Interns will learn AutoCAD, Civil 3D, Excel, Microstation, VISSIM, Open Roads, Synchro and GIS, supporting design teams and clients throughout the project lifecycle.

Qualifications

• Pursuing ABET-accredited engineering degree (Bachelor's or Master's) in Civil and/or Environmental Engineering, Structural Engineering, Mechanical, Electrical, Biological, Biosystems, Chemical, or Agricultural Engineering, or Engineering Technology.

Responsibilities

• Utilize technical software to analyze, produce, and QC deliverables for clients.
• Contribute to the pre-construction on structural projects like bridges, retaining walls, and other structural design efforts related to public and/or private bridge projects.
• Prepare bridge/structural plans, specifications and estimates for clients.
• Solve complex problems, assist project managers, and collaborate across disciplines to produce clients’ visions for the future built environment.
• Develop familiarity with the federal, state, and local regulations, as well as Kimley-Horn’s and our client’s practices, procedures, and standards.
• Structural Interns will learn one or more software programs: AutoCAD, Civil 3D, Excel, Microstation, VISSIM, Open Roads, Synchro and/or GIS

Overview

• Utilize technical software programs on a regular basis to analyze, produce, and QC deliverables for our clients.
