Job summary

Kimley-Horn is seeking Engineering students to join our Pleasanton, California office for a Summer 2027 internship. This is an on-site role, with opportunities to work on bridge and structural projects under supervision.

You'll use AutoCAD, Civil 3D, Excel and other software to analyze, produce, and QC deliverables; assist with plans, specs, and estimates for clients; and learn regulatory practices while collaborating across disciplines.

Qualifications

• Pursuing ABET-accredited engineering degree (Bachelors or Masters).
• Majors include Civil/Environmental/Mechanical/ Electrical/Biosystems/Chemical/etc.

Overview

Kimley-Horn is looking for Engineering students to join our Pleasanton, California (CA) office in Summer 2027! This is not a remote position.

Responsibilities

• Utilize technical software programs on a regular basis to analyze, produce, and QC deliverables for our clients.
• Contribute to the pre-construction on structural projects like bridges, retaining walls, and other structural design efforts related to public and/or private bridge projects.
• Prepare bridge/structural plans, specifications and estimates for clients
• Solve complex problems, assist project managers, and collaborate across disciplines to produce our clients’ visions for the future built environment.
• Develop familiarity with the federal, state, and local regulations, as well as Kimley-Horn’s and our client’s practices, procedures, and standards.
• Structural Interns will learn one or more software programs: AutoCAD, Civil 3D, Excel, Microstation, VISSIM, Open Roads, Synchro and/or GIS

Qualifications

• In the process of receiving an ABET accredited engineering degree (Bachelors or Masters) in one of the following majors:
  • Civil and/or Environmental Engineering
  • Structural Engineering
  • Mechanical, Electrical, Biological, Biosystems, Chemical, or Agricultural Engineering
  • Engineering Technology

Hourly Rate: $34.00/hr - $35.00/hr
