Job summary

Kimley-Horn in Apple Valley, MN is seeking engineering students for a structural internship in our local office. This is not a remote position; interns will assist with bridge and structural design tasks, learn AutoCAD, Civil 3D, Excel, and other software, and support project managers on client deliverables.

You will gain exposure to regulatory practices and work across disciplines to help realize our clients’ vision. Must be enrolled in ABET-accredited programs; return-ready by semester end.

Qualifications

• ABET-accredited engineering degree or in progress in related field.
• Majors include Civil/Environmental/Structural, Mechanical, Electrical, Biosystems, Chemical or Agricultural engineering.
• Engineering Technology degree accepted with relevant internship exposure.

Overview

Kimley-Horn is looking for Engineering students to join our Apple Valley, MN office! This is not a remote position.

Responsibilities

• Utilize technical software programs on a regular basis to analyze, produce, and QC deliverables for our clients.
• Contribute to the pre-construction on structural projects like bridges, retaining walls, and other structural design efforts related to public and/or private bridge projects.
• Prepare bridge/structural plans, specifications and estimates for clients
• Solve complex problems, assist project managers, and collaborate across disciplines to produce our clients’ visions for the future built environment.
• Develop familiarity with the federal, state, and local regulations, as well as Kimley-Horn’s and our client’s practices, procedures, and standards.
• Structural Interns will learn one or more software programs: AutoCAD, Civil 3D, Excel, Microstation, VISSIM, Open Roads, Synchro and/or GIS

Qualifications

• In the process of receiving an ABET accredited engineering degree (Bachelors or Masters) in one of the following majors:
  • Civil and/or Environmental Engineering
  • Structural Engineering
  • Mechanical, Electrical, Biological, Biosystems, Chemical, or Agricultural Engineering
  • Engineering Technology

Rate: $28-$29 hourly
