Job summary

The City of Sunrise seeks a Structural Plans Examiner to review plans for compliance with the Florida Building Code, perform field inspections, and enforce code provisions under the supervision of the Chief Structural Inspector.

Candidates must hold required Florida licenses, have five years of relevant experience (HVHZ experience preferred), and maintain current certifications. This role offers opportunities to impact safety across city projects and advance professional development.

Qualifications

• Graduation from an accredited high school or GED.
• Proof of highest education must be attached with application.
• Please upload copies of all required certifications.
• Required certifications/licenses must be kept current.

Responsibilities

• Review structural plans for compliance with the Florida Building Code and city ordinances.
• Perform field inspections of structural components in buildings.
• Issue stop work orders when code violations occur.
• Assist in prosecution of code violators and represent the City at hearings.
• Provide customer service and respond to inquiries about codes and inspections.
• Answer technical questions concerning the Florida Building Code for inspectors.
