Job description

What You'll Do

• Perform daily inspection of structural and concrete construction activities to verify compliance with project plans, specifications, and applicable codes.
• Inspect reinforced concrete placement, formwork, rebar installation, foundations, structural repairs, and related heavy civil work.
• Monitor contractor workmanship, construction sequencing, and material compliance throughout all phases of work.
• Review and document field activities, testing results, quantities, and project progress through daily reports and inspection logs.
• Coordinate with resident engineers, contractors, project managers, and agency representatives regarding field conditions and construction issues.
• Witness field testing activities including concrete sampling, slump tests, cylinder testing, and related quality control procedures.
• Identify non-conforming work and assist with tracking corrective actions and resolutions.
• Participate in project meetings, safety coordination efforts, and construction progress discussions as needed.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of construction inspection experience on heavy civil or structural infrastructure projects.
• Strong knowledge of reinforced concrete inspection practices and structural construction methods.
• Experience with water/wastewater treatment facilities, underground utilities, or municipal infrastructure projects preferred.
• Familiarity with NYC construction standards, inspection procedures, and documentation requirements.
• Ability to read and interpret structural drawings, specifications, and engineering documents.
• NICET certification, ACI Concrete Field Testing Technician certification, or related certifications are a plus.
• Experience supporting projects for NYC public agencies, including NYCDEP, is highly beneficial.
• Strong communication, organizational, and reporting skills.

Compensation

The anticipated compensation range for this position is between $55–$72 per hour. Final compensation will be determined based on experience, qualifications, education, certifications, skills, and work location.
