Job summary
Town of Davie, FL is seeking a Building Inspector to enforce State and local building codes under general supervision. The role reviews construction projects for code adherence, inspects structures, and issues inspection certificates. It requires BCAIB Standard Inspector certification or Florida Architect/Engineer licensure, plus HVHZ pathway certification.
Reports to the Chief Structural Inspector. Candidates must meet multiple pathways including BORA HVHZ and possibly an unlimited GC license,
Qualifications
- Must graduate from an accredited high school or GED.
- Certified by BCAIB as Standard Inspector or be a Florida Architect/Florida Professional Engineer.
- Multiple BORA HVHZ pathways required or eligible, with corresponding experience/licensing.
Responsibilities
- Inspect construction projects to enforce the South Florida Building Code and Town ordinances.
- Review plans for compliance, inspect structural framing and safety practices.
- Issue inspection certificates for approved installations and maintain records.
- Consult with other inspectors and contractors regarding codes and plans.
- May review and pass upon building plans for construction or alterations.
