Southland Steel Fabricators in Greensburg, LA, is seeking a skilled structural welder/fitter to assemble subparts into completed assemblies prior to welding under direct supervision. You will read blueprints and work orders to align parts and prepare for welding, with attention to accuracy and safety.

Responsibilities include fitting tasks, interpreting drawings, organizing work orders, taking precise measurements, and maintaining a clean, safe workspace.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Ability to read blueprints, shop drawings and welding symbols.
• Knowledge of basic shop mathematics.
• Experience in heavy structural fitting and fabrication.
• 1-2 years of structural steel fitting experience.

Responsibilities

• Perform fitting tasks under supervision.
• Assess blueprints, drawings and specifications to establish work requirements.
• Prepare reports on tools, equipment and materials daily.
• Take exact measurements, layout and fitting per drawings.
• Provide visual quality assurance.
• Operate basic metalworking tools and equipment.
• Maintain a clean and orderly workstation.
• Install temporary bracing to prevent distortion during welding.
