Picou Group Contractors in Southeast Louisiana seeks a skilled Structural Fitter to join our team. The role requires precise fabrication, layout, measurements, and assembly of structural steel components in an industrial setting.

Read blueprints, align components for welding, and maintain rigorous safety standards. You will collaborate with welders and supervisors to ensure projects meet specifications, while maintaining a clean, safe work environment and adhering to company safety policies.

Qualifications

• 2–5 years of experience as a structural fitter in an industrial construction setting.
• Valid TWIC card.
• Ability to pass drug and alcohol tests.
• Basic Plus certification required; candidates must obtain within first week of employment.
• Site safety training within first week of employment.
• Strong ability to read structural drawings and perform accurate measurements.
• Commitment to safety and quality standards.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced industrial environment.

Responsibilities

Job Description

We are seeking a skilled Structural Fitter to join our team. The ideal candidate will have experience fitting and assembling structural steel components in an industrial construction environment. This role requires precision, attention to detail, and a strong commitment to safety while ensuring all structural assemblies meet project specifications and quality standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Fit and assemble structural steel components, including beams, columns, braces, and supports, according to blueprints and specifications.

• Read and interpret blueprints, structural drawings, and layout plans.

• Perform layout, measuring, cutting, and fitting of structural materials.

• Align and secure structural components for welding and installation.

• Maintain a clean and safe work environment, adhering to all safety protocols and procedures.

• Collaborate with welders, supervisors, and other team members to ensure timely completion of projects.

• Inspect materials and completed assemblies to ensure compliance with project requirements.

• Complete site safety training and adhere to company safety policies.

Preferred Skills

• Familiarity with torch cutting, grinding, and basic welding techniques.

• Knowledge of structural steel erection processes.

• Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work independently or as part of a team.
