Job summary

HDR is seeking a Structural Engineering Section Manager to lead a team across multiple Alabama and Georgia locations, including Mobile, Birmingham, or Montgomery. The role emphasizes building technical capacity, mentoring staff, and developing proposals for structural design projects.

The position requires a PE license (SE preferred), 10+ years of structural design experience, and strong leadership and communication skills to thrive in HDR’s employee-owned culture.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.
• Minimum of 10 years of structural design experience.
• Professional registration (PE) required; SE preferred.
• Strong communication and leadership skills.
• Ability to manage multiple assignments.
• Local candidates preferred.

Responsibilities

• Build team technical expertise and design production capacity through recruitment, staff development, and training.
• Lead and mentor staff.
• Participate in leadership for technical service functions and support the development of HDR services in technical design.
• Prepare structural proposals including scope development and estimating hours/fee.
• Some regional/national travel will be expected.
