Job summary

HDR is seeking a Structural Engineering Section Manager to lead our structural design practice. The role may be based in Atlanta, Birmingham, Mobile, or Montgomery, and will focus on building technical capacity, mentoring staff, and delivering projects for complex facilities.

You will develop proposals, manage scope and hours, and collaborate with cross-functional teams while traveling regionally as needed.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.
• MS or MSCE degree in Structural Engineering preferred.
• Professional registration/PE license may be required; SE preferred.
• 10+ years of experience in structural design.
• Strong communication, leadership, and planning skills.

Responsibilities

• Build team technical expertise and design production capacity through recruitment, staff development, and training.
• Lead and mentor staff.
• Participate in leadership for technical service functions and support HDR services in technical design.
• Prepare structural proposals including scope development and estimating hours/fee.
• Some regional/national travel will be expected.
