Job description

Why This Opportunity

You’ll perform structural analysis and design for facilities that house semiconductor manufacturing, including traditional steel and concrete structures and lateral design for wind and seismic conditions. You’ll develop design concepts, complete calculations, and communicate structural requirements through design documents and the model. You’ll work with Structural Leads, Structural Engineers, Structural Designers, and other disciplines to coordinate the structural scope. Depending on project needs, you may lead structural work on medium-sized projects or serve as a sub-lead on larger projects while owning your assigned scope, quality, schedule, and budget commitments.

PAY: $58.00/hr - $78.00/hr DOE LOCATION: Northeast US, including CT, IA, IL, IN, MA, ME, MI, MN, ND, NE, NH, NJ, NY, OH, PA, RI, SD, VT, WI WORK TYPE: Hybrid SCHEDULE: Monday - Friday, 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM

Job Responsibilities
  • With little or no supervision, perform all conventional aspects of structural engineering analysis and design.
  • Plan and conduct work using independent evaluation, selection, and adaptation of engineering techniques, procedures, and criteria.
  • Apply U.S. building-code provisions for lateral analysis and design, including wind and seismic conditions.
  • Exercise sound engineering judgment and problem-solving skills, and seek guidance or confirmation when questions arise.
  • Check your own work, maintain a high level of attention to detail and quality control, and perform calculation checking of other engineers’ work.
  • Take complete ownership of assigned structural scope and meet schedule, budget, and quality commitments in a timely, accurate, and cost-effective manner.
  • Define scope, forecast the level of effort needed, identify scope changes, and elevate them to the Structural Lead or Project Manager.
  • Take initiative when assignments are ill-defined, determine what is needed to meet project requirements, and recognize when guidance is needed.
  • Understand how structural design integrates with and affects other disciplines, and maintain awareness of relevant industry issues and challenges.
  • Provide technical guidance, coaching, and mentorship to designers/drafters and less experienced engineers.
  • Advance structural workflows, systems, and tools and embrace emerging technologies.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering with an emphasis in Structural Engineering.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license.
  • At least 10 years of experience in structural engineering.
  • Proficiency with U.S. building codes, including IBC, ASCE 7, ACI, and AISC.
  • Proficiency with structural engineering analysis software, Navisworks, and Bluebeam.
  • Experience designing and analyzing traditional steel and concrete structures.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills.
  • Experience leading small teams.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Master of Science degree in Civil Engineering with an emphasis in Structural Engineering or a Master of Science degree in Structural Engineering.
  • Structural Engineer (SE) license.
  • Experience in semiconductor industrial or general industrial facilities.
  • Experience with STAAD, Navisworks, and Bluebeam.
Work Environment
  • This position is considered hybrid/remote and may require you to either work in the nearest local office at least 2 days/week or from home in the listed Northeast US states.
  • Field walks are not common but may include climbing ladders, crawling under raised access floors, or walking/standing for extended periods; you must be able to perform field walks unless mobility challenged.
  • You provide internet service at home as required to effectively meet project performance requirements.
