Key Responsibilities
  • Lead and develop the Bozeman structural engineering office.
  • Recruit, mentor, and retain engineering staff as the office expands.
  • Foster a collaborative, high-performance culture focused on technical excellence and client service.
  • Establish operational procedures and best practices to support sustainable growth.
Business Development & Client Management
  • Develop and maintain relationships with architects, developers, contractors, municipalities, and institutional clients.
  • Identify and pursue new project opportunities across Montana and the Mountain West.
  • Represent the firm at industry events, networking functions, and professional organizations.
  • Collaborate with senior leadership to execute regional growth initiatives.
  • Direct structural design and project delivery efforts from concept through construction.
  • Manage project schedules, budgets, staffing, and quality control processes.
  • Serve as the primary client contact on key projects.
  • Provide technical oversight and guidance to project teams.
Technical Engineering
  • Lead structural analysis and design for a variety of building types and project scales.
  • Review and approve engineering calculations, specifications, reports, and construction documents.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable building codes and industry standards.
  • Support innovative and efficient structural solutions aligned with project goals.
Qualifications
Required
  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, or related field.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license required.
  • 10+ years of structural engineering experience.
  • Demonstrated experience managing projects and client relationships.
  • Strong understanding of building design, structural systems, and construction methodologies.
  • Proven leadership and mentoring capabilities.
  • Excellent communication and business development skills.
Preferred
  • Experience leading an office, practice group, or regional team.
  • Existing relationships within Montana or the Mountain West engineering market.
  • Experience across commercial, higher education, healthcare, hospitality, municipal, or mixed-use projects.
