Job summary

Barge Design Solutions, Inc. in Nashville, TN is seeking a college student for a paid summer internship in structural engineering.

You will work in-person on industrial and commercial building projects, gaining hands-on experience and mentorship from senior engineers. You should be pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Structural or Civil Engineering with a structural emphasis and maintain a GPA of 3.2 or higher; you must be at least 18 years old.

Qualifications

• Pursuing accredited Bachelor's or Master's degree.
• Major in Structural or Civil Engineering with a structural emphasis.
• GPA of 3.2 or higher.
• Must be at least 18 years old.

Responsibilities

• Prepare framing and foundation plans, sections and details.
• Develop structural calculations using FEA software.
• Review shop drawings and product data for submittals.
• Support engineers in completing project deliverables.
• Collaborate with team on new ideas and REVIT usage.

Bachelor’s degree or Master’s degree (pursuing)

Location: Nashville, TN

Number of positions available: 1

Schedule: Summer 2027

You will be involved in the following types of projects:

• Industrial and commercial building design projects
• Water/wastewater treatment structures
• Earth retention structures

You Will Gain Experience In

• Preparation of framing and foundation plans, sections, and details
• Preparation of structural calculations, including the use of Finite Element Analysis (FEA) software
• Reviewing construction submittals, such as shop drawings and product data
• Supporting Engineers in completing project deliverables
• Collaborating with team members on new ideas/innovations
• Using Autodesk REVIT

Education & Experience Qualifications

• Must be pursuing a Bachelor’s degree or Master’s degree from an accredited university
• Major: Structural Engineering or Civil Engineering with a Structural Emphasis
• Preference will be given to students that do not require sponsorship
• Current GPA of 3.2 or higher
• You must be at least 18 years of age.

Additional Details

• This is a paid internship working full-time hours (40) per week.
• This is an in-person work opportunity.
• Interns are not eligible for company benefits.
