Job summary

RTX in Jamestown offers an on-site internship program for students in Mechanical, Civil, or Aerospace Engineering. You will join a team of stress engineers supporting new product development and certification, gaining exposure to industry standards and real-world challenges.

You will perform basic structural analysis with guidance, help generate component and aircraft interface loads, and contribute to certification documentation and testing.

Qualifications

• Pursuing a Bachelor’s or Advanced degree in Mechanical, Civil, or Aerospace Engineering or a related STEM major and enrolled through the internship period.
• Experience from coursework, projects, or on-the-job is acceptable.

• Perform basic structural analysis with guidance using classical methods and FEA to demonstrate cargo handling system integrity.
• Support generation of component and aircraft interface loads.

What You Will Do

• Work within a team of stress engineers in support of new product development and certification.
• Perform basic structural analysis, with guidance from stress engineers, utilizing classical analysis and finite element analysis methods to demonstrate structural integrity of cargo handling system products
• Support the generation of component applied loads and aircraft interface loads
• Develop structural analysis documentation in support of product certification
• Support structural testing for product certification

Qualifications You Must Have

• Must be pursuing a Bachelor’s or Advanced degree in Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or related Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) major and actively enrolled through the completion of the internship/co‑op session.

Experience may be obtained through on-the-job experience, research, coursework, or projects.

Qualifications We Prefer

• Experience with Computer Aided Design (CAD) Software such as NX, SolidWorks, Catia, Creo, Fusion 360, or equivalent.
• A minimum of 60 hours of credit by the start of the internship/co‑op session
• Finite Element Analysis familiarity (ANSYS preferred)
• Experience with Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and/or Outlook)
• Experience working on cross‑functional teams

The salary range for this role is 37,000 USD - 82,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
