Job summary

OneFourTwo in Indianapolis, Indiana is seeking a motivated Structural Engineering Intern to assist with the design, engineering, and construction process. The role offers exposure to a multidisciplinary team including architecture, engineering, and project management, with an anticipated start date Summer 2027.

The internship requires enrollment in Civil Engineering, strong communication, and a solid work ethic.

Qualifications

• Enrolled in Civil Engineering degree program (Graduate or Undergraduate).
• Minimum GPA 3.0 out of 4.0.
• Previous internship/co-op experience is a plus.
• Excellent verbal communication skills and a strong work ethic.

Responsibilities

• Communicate with drafting staff, clients, and project team members.
• Prepare preliminary designs for clients.
• Review building codes for correct implementation.
• Attend client meetings and coordinate with project managers, architects, and engineers.
• Produce structural calculations for construction documents and permits.
• Create construction-ready drawings using Revit and coordinate with all disciplines.

A DAY IN THE LIFE

We are looking for a highly motivated Structural Engineering Intern who is passionate about the design, engineering, and construction process to join our team. At OneFourTwo, an Intern/Co‑op has the opportunity to assist their team with the following:

• Communicate with technical drafting staff, clients, and other outside project team members
• Prepare preliminary designs for clients
• Review building codes to assure correct implementation of preparation and design
• Attend client meetings, coordinate with construction project managers, architect, civil, and mechanical engineers
• Produce structural calculations for implementation with technical drafting staff during preparation of construction documents for permit submittal as well as construction
• Produce construction ready design drawings using Revit and coordinate with all disciplines to assure complete and accurate alignment

NECESSARY QUALIFICATIONS

• Minimum Grade Point Average of 3.0 out of 4.0
• Enrolled in Civil Engineering degree program (Graduate or Undergraduate)
• Previous construction or engineering internship/co‑op experience is a plus
• Excellent verbal communication skills and a strong work ethic
