Job summary

AHBL, Inc. in Tacoma, WA is seeking a Structural Engineering intern to work with experienced engineers on real-world projects. You’ll help with lateral force calculations, roof and floor framing sizing, beam and joist sizing, wall framing, and foundation elements, with exposure to Revit or AutoCAD.

Internships run May/June for about 12-14 weeks, ~40 hours per week, with potential for full-time employment after graduation.

Qualifications

• Currently enrolled in a Structural, Civil, or Architectural Engineering degree program and have completed Junior level coursework.
• Strong analytical, conceptual, communication, and organizational skills.
• Experience in AutoCAD, Revit, and structural analysis software.

Responsibilities

• Assist with lateral force calculations for wind and seismic design.
• Assist with structural design of roof and floor framing members.
• Size beams and joists and review wall framing and foundation elements.
• Create 3D analytical models and learn structural detailing in Revit or AutoCAD.
• Possible site visits or field reviews of projects in construction.
