Job summary

IMEG is hiring a Structural Engineering Intern in Pensacola, FL to support analysis, design, and implementation of structural systems for buildings and other structures. The 10-12 week summer program offers hands-on exposure and collaboration with experienced engineers.

You will assist with project documentation, interdisciplinary coordination, and periodic site observations while helping the team meet goals and client expectations within budget.

Qualifications

• Completed at least 2 years toward a BS in Civil, Structural, or Architectural Engineering.
• Proficiency with MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
• Experience with AutoCAD and BIM is preferred.
• Strong written and verbal communication abilities.

Responsibilities

• Assist with structural analysis, design, and implementation of structural systems within project budgets.
• Support design portions of projects according to codes and IMEG standards.
• Research resources relevant to projects and document findings.
• Maintain client relations and document project design notebooks and records.
• Coordinate design and schedule with disciplines such as architectural, electrical, mechanical and vendors.
• Document design decisions and meetings promptly while monitoring progress.
• Review project documents for accuracy before final checks.
• Assist with preparing and issuing addendum information.
• Conduct periodic site observations as required by the contract services.

IMEG is hiring a Structural Engineering Intern in Pensacola, FL to support the analysis, design, and implementation of structural systems for buildings and other structures. In this role, you'll work closely with experienced engineers and consultants while gaining hands-on exposure to project work and structural design processes.

Over a 10-12 week summer program, you'll assist with project documentation, interdisciplinary coordination, and periodic job site observations while helping the team meet project goals and client expectations within budget. You'll contribute to work across structural, commercial, and institutional markets, contributing to sustainable design goals including SE2050.

What You'll Do

• Assist with structural analysis, design, and implementation of structural systems in buildings and other structures while working within the project's monetary budget.
• Assist with design portions of a project related to discipline systems according to code and IMEG standards.
• Assist with researching and finding resources with regards to projects.
• Assist with good client relations, project design notebook, and provide documentation for permanent record files.
• Assist with coordinating design and schedule with other disciplines such as architectural, structural, electrical, mechanical, technology, clerical and suppliers.
• Assist with documenting design decisions, meetings, and instructions from client promptly while monitoring project design progress.
• Assist with review of all project documents for accuracy and completeness prior to requesting a final check.
• Assist with preparation and issuance of addendum information.
• Conduct periodic job site observations and all other services as required by the contract services agreement.

Required Education and Experience

• Completed at least 2 years towards a Bachelor of Science (BS) Degree in Civil, Structural, or Architectural Engineering, or equivalent, required

Skills and Abilities

• Strong interest in design consulting
• Proficient with MS Office Suite including, but not limited to, Word, Excel, and Outlook
• Skilled in AutoCAD and/or Building Information Modeling (Building Information Model) software
• Ability to clearly communicate in both oral and written communication to individuals or groups

Preferred

• Prior internship experience in the building design consulting industry preferred
