IMEG is offering a Summer 2027 Structural Engineering Intern position in Houston, TX. Over a 10–12 week period, you will assist with structural design tasks, documentation, and site observations under mentorship, contributing to healthcare, industrial, and mixed-use projects across Texas and the Gulf Coast.

You will support the team with project coordination, client relations, and design notebooks while learning IMEG standards and tools in a real-project environment.

Qualifications

• Pursuing BS in Civil/Structural/Architectural Engineering with at least 2 years completed.
• Interest in design consulting and structural engineering fundamentals.

Responsibilities

• Assist structural design work in accordance with code and IMEG standards.

IMEG is hiring a Structural Engineering Intern in Houston, TX. Over 10-12 weeks, you'll assist in the analysis, design, and implementation oversight of structural systems for buildings and other structures as part of a paid, mentored internship with real project work.

In this role, you'll support project documentation, coordination, and job site observations while collaborating with cross-functional teams to help meet project goals and client expectations within the project's monetary budget. You'll contribute to work serving commercial and institutional markets while supporting a team with active healthcare, industrial, and mixed-use projects across Texas and the Gulf Coast, contributing to sustainable design goals including SE2050.

What You’ll Do

• Assist with structural design work for projects in accordance with code and IMEG standards.
• Assist with researching project-related resources.
• Assist with client relations, project design notebooks, and documentation for permanent record files.
• Assist with coordinating design and schedules with architectural, structural, electrical, mechanical, technology, clerical, and supplier teams.
• Assist with documenting design decisions, meetings, and client instructions while monitoring project design progress.
• Assist with reviewing project documents.
• Assist with reviewing project documents for accuracy and completeness prior to requesting a final check.
• Assist with preparing and issuing addendum information.
• Conduct periodic job site observations and perform other services as required by the contract services agreement.

What You’ll Bring

Education

• Completed at least 2 years towards a Bachelor of Science (BS) Degree in Civil, Structural, or Architectural Engineering, or equivalent, required

Experience

Required Skills/Abilities

• Strong interest in design consulting
• Proficient with MS Office Suite including, but not limited to, Word, Excel, and Outlook
• Skilled in AutoCAD and/or Building Information Modeling (BIM) software
• Ability to clearly communicate in both oral and written communication to individuals or groups

Preferred

• Prior internship experience in the building design consulting industry preferred
