Job summary

Burns & McDonnell in Melbourne, FL is seeking an Engineering Intern to support standard engineering tasks, assist lead engineers, and contribute to project duties. The role covers Global Facilities projects across diverse industries, including manufacturing and data centers.

The intern will perform tasks such as data entry, preparing presentations, and contributing to continuous improvement efforts while maintaining a strong emphasis on communication and problem-solving skills.

Qualifications

• Pursuit of a bachelor's degree in Structural Engineering or a related field from a recognized, accredited program.
• ABET accreditation strongly preferred.
• Prior internship and/or related consulting experience preferred.
• Actively involved in campus, community or other volunteer activities or organizations.

A Brief Overview

Our Engineering Interns are responsible for performing tasks requiring the application of standard engineering techniques and procedures. This includes standard design of engineering systems, correcting and updating designs, assisting lead engineers with various project duties, and other duties as assigned.

Specific assignments and project work vary depending on the market segments. Please see below for information on each market:

Global Facilities

The Global Facilities group is responsible for the planning and design of manufacturing facilities, district energy systems, data centers and mission-critical facilities. This includes work across diverse industries, including aerospace, space and defense, food and beverage, life sciences and technology, consumer products, healthcare and advanced manufacturing, guiding projects from site selection through startup.

• Assist with tasks that may include filing, scanning, data entry, documentation and Power Point presentation.
• Assist with responses to general questions.
• Participate in continuous improvement efforts by collecting and analyzing data.
• Present solutions to concerns.
• Research solutions to project concerns; analyze and recommend solutions to problems.
• Assist with ad hoc projects as assigned by managers.
• Minimum of a 3.0 GPA strongly preferred.
• Involvement on campus or in the community preferred.
• Candidates must be legally authorized to work permanently (i.e., without time limitations, without restrictions or without need for work sponsorship) in the country where this position is located.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
• Complies with all policies and standards.

Qualifications
