Job summary

HDR is seeking an engineering intern to support transportation projects in our Bridges and Structures group. You will gain real-world experience on exciting projects and connect with company leaders through mentoring programs.

You will apply standard engineering techniques under supervision of a professional or Project Manager, perform assignments, and contribute to design tasks while developing CAD and communication skills.

• Currently enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate engineering program.
• Strong problem-solving and communication skills.
• Basic Microsoft Office skills.

Primary Responsibilities

• Offer real-world experience on exciting projects
• Connect with recent college graduates and our company leaders through mentoring and young professionals programs
• Apply standard engineering techniques and procedures
• Perform assignments under the direct supervision of a professional or Project Manager
• Perform other duties as needed.

Preferred Qualifications

• Must be currently enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate Civil Engineering or structural engineering related program
• CAD knowledge and skills
• Either Steel or Concrete Design coursework completed
• Prefer 2 years completed toward degree with 3.0+ GPA
• Strong preference given to local candidates

This internship is intended to be a full-time role starting in January of 2027

Required Qualifications

• Currently enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate Engineering program
• Possess strong problem-solving and communication skills
• Basic Microsoft Office skills
• An attitude and commitment to being an active participant of our employee-owned culture is a must
