Job summary

HDR is seeking a Bridge Intern to gain real-world experience on structural projects in Missouri. You’ll assist with bridge and structure designs under the supervision of a senior engineer, applying standard methods to a variety of projects including bridges and railroad structures.

Ideal candidates are enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate engineering program with strong problem-solving and communication skills, plus basic Microsoft Office. Local candidates are preferred.

Qualifications

  • Currently enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate Engineering program.
  • Possess strong problem-solving and communication skills.
  • Basic Microsoft Office skills.
  • An attitude and commitment to being an active participant of our employee-owned culture is a must.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with development of bridge and structure designs.
  • Gain real-world experience on bridge projects by applying standard engineering techniques.
  • Work under supervision of a more senior-level Engineer on project design tasks.
  • Connect with colleagues through mentoring and young professionals’ programs.
  • May include field services for site visits and NBIS level inspection activities.
  • Perform other duties as needed.

In the role of Bridge Intern, we’ll count on you to:

Gain real-world experience on exciting projects by applying standard engineering techniques and procedures on a variety of projects typically including bridge steel plate girders, prestress concrete, segmental and cable, box culvert, and miscellaneous structure design for highway and railway projects.

Work under the guidance and direct supervision of a more senior-level Engineer to assist with the development of bridge and structure designs.

Connect with recent college graduates and our company leaders through mentoring and young professionals’ programs

May also include field services for site visits and NBIS level inspection activities

Perform other duties as needed

Preferred Qualifications
  • Prefer 2 years completed toward degree with 3.0+ GPA
  • Demonstrated knowledge of software packages related to field of study/industry
  • Self-starter with excellent writing, comprehension, problem-solving and communication skills
  • Preference given to local candidates
Required Qualifications
  • Currently enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate Engineering program
