Job summary

M.C. Dean, headquartered in Tysons, Virginia, is seeking a Senior Structural Engineer to design, plan, and oversee structures—buildings, bridges, tunnels, and infrastructure—ensuring safety, sustainability, and cost-effectiveness.

You will collaborate with architects, contractors, and engineers to deliver high-quality projects. The role requires a Civil/Structural engineering degree and 2+ years of relevant experience, with CAD proficiency and strong analytical skills.

Responsibilities

  • Design and Analysis: Develop structural designs using CAD software and perform calculations to ensure loads are safe.

  • Compliance and Standards: Ensure designs adhere to building codes and provide certifications as required.
  • Problem Solving: Identify and resolve design/construction issues and provide technical advice.

Responsibilities
  • Key Responsibilities:
  • Design and Analysis:
    • Develop structural designs using computer-aided design (CAD) software.
    • Perform calculations to ensure structures can withstand various loads and forces.
    • Analyze building materials for strength, durability, and cost-effectiveness.
  • Project Management:
    • Prepare detailed drawings and specifications for construction.
    • Coordinate with architects, contractors, and other professionals to ensure project alignment.
    • Oversee construction sites to ensure compliance with design specifications and safety standards.
    • Manage project timelines and budgets.
  • Compliance and Standards:
    • Ensure all designs adhere to local, state, and federal building codes and regulations.
    • Conduct inspections and provide certifications as required by law.
  • Problem Solving:
    • Identify and resolve design and construction issues.
    • Provide technical advice and support during construction phases.
  • Documentation and Reporting:
    • Prepare and present reports, proposals, and other documentation.
    • Maintain accurate records of design changes and project progress.
Qualifications
