Position Summary

The position is responsible for engineering and design activities related to assigned functional areas, such as analysis, design, and project management, under the guidance of higher-level engineers, leads, supervisors, or managers. The engineer will work with higher-level engineers to complete projects supporting our customer. They may also collaborate with other internal engineers, designers, project staff, and client engineers and designers.

Primary Duties And Responsibilities

1. Coordinate work activities of others within the work group and department to complete structural projects
2. Provide training and guidance to lower-level employees
3. Utilize computer software to design all substation structures and foundations
4. Review Design Basis, Design Notes, Hazard Log, SOW, Technical Specs, and Field Review Plan
5. Work with electrical designers to develop structural scopes and estimates based on one-line diagrams and electrical arrangement drawings
6. Review structural design drawings, fabricator detail drawings, and other project documents to verify compliance with design theory, specified materials, and applicable structural codes and standards
7. Make recommendations for improving structural designs, drawings, or documents
8. Create material requisitions and coordinate with fabricators to verify lead times and costs to ensure correct steel is ordered and delivered before the project schedule
9. Coordinate with electrical designers and other structural team members to complete required submittals by the project schedule
10. Function as a project lead for structural projects
11. Coordinate work activities of others within the work group and department to complete structural projects
12. Initiate corrective action when substation project objectives are not being met
13. Interpret codes and regulations applicable to project work

Education And Experience Requirements

1. Minimum of four years of experience in structural engineering, analysis, and foundation work
2. Minimum of four years of experience managing engineering projects from start to finish
3. Minimum of four years of experience in scoping, estimating, and ordering materials for structural projects
4. Bachelor’s Degree in Civil or Structural Engineering from an accredited institution
5. A Master’s Degree in Civil or Structural Engineering will count towards years of experience
6. A SE License is required for the State of Washington

Pay And Benefits

The pay range for this position is $65.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment. Benefits are subject to change and specific plan terms. If eligible, benefits may include:
