Structural Engineer, PE, SE – Mid-Level

Locations: Chicago, IL (hybrid), Chantilly, VA (hybrid), Atlanta, GA (hybrid)

The Challenge:

We are seeking a licensed mid-level Structural Engineer with experience in design-build and infrastructure to join our team. Ideal candidates are independent thinkers, self-motivated, proactive communicators, and enjoy interdisciplinary collaboration throughout the design process.

Principal Areas of Responsibility:
  1. Develop plans and details for foundations, buildings, and structures based on preliminary concepts, sketches, calculations, or verbal instructions.
  2. Understand the process of preparing designs and drawings using project specifications and instructions, following established standards and procedures.
  3. Create structural models and project drawings using Revit and AutoCAD.
  4. Be familiar with drafting conventions for structural steel, reinforced concrete, and masonry.
  5. Prepare schedules, detail drawings, and enter equipment specifications.
  6. Understand the scope of SD, DD, and CD documents and produce appropriate drawings.
  7. Research product information to assist in material and equipment selection and specifications.
  8. Conduct site surveys and document existing conditions accurately.
  9. Oversee or perform existing condition surveys of structural systems for renovation strategies and documentation.
  10. Perform structural assessments of existing buildings based on historical data.
  11. Assist the Marketing Team with solicitations.
Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor and Master of Science in Civil/Structural Engineering from an ABET-accredited university.
  • Active PE license; SE license preferred.
  • 8-12 years of relevant experience.
  • Familiarity with Whole Building Design Guide, UFC, and UFGS.
  • Proficiency with building and design codes (IBC, ASCE, ACI, AISC, etc.).
  • Experience with structural systems including steel, reinforced concrete, masonry, cold-formed, and PEMB structures.
  • Proficiency with structural analysis software (RISA, CSI, Bentley).
  • Ability to prioritize, meet deadlines, and work on multiple projects collaboratively.
  • Self-motivated, detail-oriented, client-focused, and a positive team player.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, comfortable with presentations.
  • Willingness to travel, including international travel.
  • U.S. citizenship and ability to obtain and maintain a secret clearance.
  • Proficiency with REVIT is highly desirable.
  • Strong safety awareness.
Salary Range:

This position offers an annual salary between $94,500 and $113,200, based on experience, skills, certifications, and location.
