Job summary

HDR is seeking a mid-career Structural Engineer to join the Building Engineering Services group in the Midwest. The role involves leading design efforts, coordinating with architects and civil/MEP teams, and mentoring junior staff across healthcare, civic, tech, and commercial projects.

You will leverage AutoCAD, RISA, STAAD, ETABS, RAM, SAP, SAFE, and Tedds to produce robust designs while ensuring code compliance. Office locations include Madison or Milwaukee, WI.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil or Structural Engineering is required.
• Professional Engineer (PE) license recognized by the local board is required.
• Preferred: Master's degree in Structural Engineering.
• Experience with an architectural/engineering or engineering consulting firm is expected.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with architects and discipline leads to develop designs and drive projects forward.
• Coordinate structural design work through design development and contract docs phases.
• Conduct site visits and lead construction administration efforts.
• Prepare and edit structural specifications and calculations.
• Ensure code compliance through reviews with agencies and project teams.
