Job summary

HDR's Building Engineering Services group in Wisconsin seeks a Structural Engineer to join our Madison or Milwaukee team. You will lead design development, coordinate the structural design team, and mentor junior engineers on healthcare, civic, tech, commercial, and industrial projects across seismic zones.

You will collaborate with architects and discipline leads, manage construction documents, and ensure code compliance through client and agency reviews.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil or Structural Engineering.
• 5-8 years of progressive structural engineering experience on projects of similar scale.
• Structural Engineer (SE) License or qualification via NCEES to obtain SE in Illinois.
• Proficiency with typical engineering software and BIM tools listed above.
• Experience at an architectural/engineering or engineering consulting firm.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with architects and other engineering leads; lead small project teams and mentor EITs.
• Coordinate the structural design team through design development and contract documents.
• Establish meetings and reviews with agencies for code compliance.
• Conduct design development and site-based design sessions with PM and other disciplines.
• Coordinate workload through design development and construction document phases to meet schedule.
• Coordinate with affected disciplines and integrate change orders into documents.
• Perform site visits and lead construction administration efforts.
• Write and edit structural specifications; select procedures and sizes and perform necessary calculations.
• Review structural documents for conflicts with other disciplines and standards.
• Perform other duties as needed.
