Job summary

Lake Superior Consulting is seeking a Structural Engineer IV in Milwaukee to join our Facilities Engineering group. You will lead complex structural projects, own design tasks, and collaborate with engineers across disciplines from concept to completion.

The role demands independent work, leadership of junior staff, and familiarity with design software such as AutoCAD, Navisworks, Civil 3D, and RISA. Competitive compensation and benefits are offered.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Structural Engineering from an ABET-accredited university.
• 5+ years of experience as a structural engineer.
• PE preferred, EIT required.

Responsibilities

• Perform structural design and analysis calculations using governing codes and standards.
• Provide leadership to junior engineers while executing structural tasks.
• Lead or participate in multi-disciplinary project teams from concept through completion.
• Prepare CAD drawings or sketches for Designers/Drafters.
• Research design options and document findings for Engineer of Record.

Lake Superior Consulting is seeking a Structural Engineer IV Milwaukee to join our growing Facilities Engineering group.

As a Structural Engineer IV, you'll lead complex engineering projects and play a key role in developing innovative solutions for our clients. You'll have the opportunity to take ownership of projects, apply advanced technical expertise, and collaborate with engineers and other disciplines to bring challenging designs from concept through completion.

Responsibilities:

• Perform structural design andanalysiscalculations using governing codes and standards, engineering formulas, skills, and experience.
• Provide leadership and guidance to more junior engineers while executing a variety of structural engineering tasks.
• Capable of working within or leading a multi-disciplinary engineering project team.
• Layout and detail entire projects as an Engineer of Record or portions of projects under the supervision of the Engineer of Record
• Provide CAD drawings or sketches to incorporate in drawings by Designers/Drafters
• Research design options and document findings for Engineer of Record
• Assume the lead engineer's role on assigned projects
• Direct and supervise other Designer's/Drafter's activities as needed
• Attend andparticipatein client meetings as a Subject Matter Expert (SME)
• Perform field activities such asobservingand recording existing field conditions,takingand verifying measurements within project area
• Organize, draft, and coordinate technical documents
• Serve as the project engineer by leading design and engineering effort, and managing proposed schedule and budget throughout each project
• Work either independently or closely with others in a team environment on construction plans with clients, architects, and other professionals
• Present technical aspects of a project and structural design approach to technical and non-technical individuals
• Maintain a comprehensive knowledge and appreciation of all applicable engineering codes and practices

Position Requirements:

Education, Certifications/Licenses, Experience:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Civilor Structural Engineering from an ABET accredited university
• 5+ years’ experience as a structural engineer
• PE preferred, EITrequired

Knowledge, skills, and abilities:

• History of successful completion of projects
• Ability to work independently and in close collaboration with others
• Preferred experience with engineeringand/design software such as AutoCAD, Navisworks,Civil 3D,RISA, Excel Spreadsheets,BluebeamREVUetc.
• Understand 2-D and 3-D drafting techniques
• Firm knowledge of design codes including: ASCE 7, AISC 360, ACI 318, etc.

Physical Requirements and Demands:

• The job requires the ability to sit for extended periods at a computer workstation. Routinely use standard office equipment such as but not limitedto:computers, phones, copiers, and filing cabinets. Regularly required to use hands and fingers to handle, feel, oroperateobjects, tools, or controls, and reach with hands and arms. The employee isfrequentlyrequired to stand, talk, and hear.
• Standing for extended periods.
• Occasionallifting inup to 50lbs.
• Exposure to weather including heat and cold climates.
• Ability to work long hours and overtime when projectsdemand.

Lake Superior Consulting offers a competitive compensation package. The actual starting salary will be determined based on a variety of factors, including your skills, experience, and office/market location. The anticipated salary range for this position is$95,000 - $132,800.
