Job summary

Walbec is seeking a Structural Engineer Summer 2027 Intern to support civil and structural design activities across multiple projects. You will work with a team to develop plans, details and recommendations for concrete, steel and timber structures, including foundations and frames.

The role offers exposure to field visits, site investigations and client meetings while you learn from experienced engineers and project managers in a collaborative environment.

Qualifications

• Pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or Structural Engineering.
• Interest in structural, transportation and heavy-civil engineering.
• Self-starter with ability to work independently. Strong written and verbal communication.

Responsibilities

• Support engineering teams with civil and structural plans, details and recommendations.

The Position

Support engineering teams with civil and structural plans, details and recommendations for various projects. Assist with the analysis and design of concrete, steel and timber structures, including bridges and retaining walls. Assist with the design of foundations, slabs, framing and piling systems under experienced engineers. Review project requirements, site conditions and applicable design standards. Participate in field visits, site investigations and project meetings. Support plan revisions, contractor questions and other project delivery activities. Shadow experienced engineers and project managers to gain hands‑on experience.

Requirements

Currently pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering or a related field. Interest in structural, transportation and heavy‑civil engineering. Self‑starter and ability to work independently. Strong communication skills both written and verbal.
