Job summary

Walbec invites a Civil Engineer Summer 2027 Internship candidate to join our Midwest-based team and assist on civil and structural projects. You will review site conditions, contribute to design details, and support field activities under the guidance of experienced engineers.

Ideal applicants are working toward a Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering with an interest in structural, transportation and heavy-civil disciplines, and possess strong written and verbal communication skills.

Qualifications

• Currently pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Surveying, or a related field.
• Interest in structural, transportation and heavy-civil engineering.
• Self-starter and ability to work independently.
• Strong communication skills both written and verbal.

Responsibilities

• Support engineering teams with civil and structural plans, details and recommendations for various projects.
• Review project requirements, site conditions and applicable design standards.
• Participate in field visits, site investigations and project meetings.
• Support plan revisions, contractor questions and other project delivery activities.
• Shadow experienced engineers and project managers to gain hands-on experience.
