Job summary

Nexus Engineering Group seeks a Civil/Structural Engineer Intern or Co-op to join our design team. You will help prepare drawings, calculations and client deliverables in a collaborative consulting environment.

Key tasks include 2-D AutoCAD and 3-D Revit design, updating graphics standards, developing templates, and ensuring codes and specs are met while learning Nexus workflows and interacting with diverse teams.

Qualifications

• Pursuing a Bachelor of Science Degree in Civil Engineering from a four-year accredited college or university.
• Ability to work within diverse teams assembled from Nexus, clients, and others.
• Effective communication skills to convey ideas.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Excel and Word; seeks feedback to improve performance.
• Proficient with AutoCAD, Revit or other drafting software desired.
• Exposure to STAADPro or similar finite element programs a plus.
• Understand the business and engineering workflow in a consulting firm.
• Expand capabilities with drafting software such as AutoCAD, Revit, or others.
• Introduced to STAADPRO for finite element analysis.
• Exposure to and application of industry codes and standards related to the structural discipline functions.

Responsibilities

• Prepare drawings, calculations, and other deliverables for design projects.
• Perform existing drawing research.
• Design 2-D graphics using AutoCAD, and 3-D graphics using Revit.
• Update Nexus graphics standards.
• Develop Nexus templates for the Structural Department.
• Review codes and create project design specifications.
• Assist experienced Structural Engineers with their activities as requested.
