Job summary

KPFF Consulting Engineers seeks a detail-oriented Structural Engineer in Training for our Sacramento, CA office. You will design, analyze, and oversee structural systems for commercial, residential, and infrastructure projects, working closely with architects, contractors, and project managers to deliver safe, code-compliant solutions.

Ideal candidates hold a Civil/Structural Engineering degree, an active EIT, and at least 3 years of relevant experience; PE progress is a plus.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or Structural Engineering; Master’s degree preferred.
  • EIT certification required.
  • PE certification obtained or actively in progress.
  • At least three years of relevant full-time experience in structural engineering design.
  • Proficiency in structural analysis software (AutoCAD, Revit, ETABS, SAP2000).

Responsibilities

  • Perform structural analysis and design calculations using industry-standard software and methodologies.
  • Develop detailed structural drawings, specifications, and technical documentation in compliance with building codes.
  • Conduct site assessments and evaluations to identify structural requirements and challenges.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including architects, MEP engineers, and contractors to ensure project coordination.
  • Review and evaluate construction documents, shop drawings, and submittals for structural compliance.
  • Provide technical support during construction administration and resolve on-site issues.
  • Optimize structural designs for cost-effectiveness, sustainability, and constructability.
  • Keep project files and documentation organized and audit-ready.
  • Keep pace with evolving building codes and best practices, and apply them to daily work.
  • Present technical findings and recommendations clearly to clients and stakeholders.
