Job summary

Garver is seeking a Structural Engineer in Training (EIT) in Houston, TX to join the Buildings Team. You will develop structural designs and documentation, perform analyses and detailing for a range of systems including steel, concrete, cold-formed steel, masonry, and wood, and assist with construction administration.

Responsibilities include reviewing shop drawings, RFIs, site observations, and reports; coordinating with other disciplines; and supporting project managers while following QA/QC

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering or architectural engineering with a structural emphasis from an ABET-accredited institution.
  • Registered Engineer In Training (EIT) or ability to become registered within 6 months of start date.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Self-motivated and a good team player.
  • Proficiency with MS Office Suite.

Structural Engineer in Training (Entry Level)

As a member of Garver's Buildings Team, the Structural Engineer in Training (EIT) will develop structural designs and documentation for various projects within the Buildings Business Line. Responsibilities include structural analysis, design, detailing, and construction administration for multiple structural systems, including:



  • Structural Steel

  • Reinforced Concrete

  • Cold-Formed Steel

  • Reinforced masonry

  • Structural Wood


Key Responsibilities

Preferred Requirements and Skills


  • Master’s degree in civil engineering or architectural engineering with a structural emphasis from an ABET-accredited institution.

  • 1 to 2 years of professional structural engineering experience.

  • Familiarity with Bentley RAM Structural System and RAM Elements, Autodesk Revit and Construction Cloud, AIA MasterSpec.

  • Working knowledge of structural engineering principles, US building codes, and structural design standards.
