Job summary

Bowman is seeking a Structural Engineer II to join our Chicago team. The role emphasizes executing complex structural engineering for transportation projects, with a strong on-site work preference.

You will lead project teams, prepare plans and reports, and coordinate with clients and cross-discipline offices. Ideal candidates hold a civil engineering degree with 3+ years in structural design; FE/EIT is preferred, PE/SE or candidate status preferred within six months.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in civil engineering is required.
• 3+ years of professional engineering experience focusing on structural engineering.
• FE/EIT preferred; PE/SE registration preferred within 6 months.
• Experience with steel girders, precast/concrete, and bridge-related design is expected.
• Familiarity with IDOT, AASHTO, and relevant manuals is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Lead technical direction on structural projects and mentor junior staff.
• Prepare plans, reports, sketches, and design documentation for projects.
• Coordinate with project team and external clients; manage schedules and budgets.
• Conduct field observations and data collection for design work.
• Develop and present technical analyses and design options.
