Job summary

Hargrove Engineers & Constructors in Decatur, Alabama, is seeking a Civil/Structural Engineer with 3+ years of relevant industrial experience to perform design calculations, develop conceptual layouts, and coordinate with drafting teams.

You will check vendor drawings, ensure code compliance (IBC/ASCE/AISC/ACI), and contribute to construction specifications while supporting fieldwork and interoffice collaboration.

Qualifications

• Bachelor or Master of Science in Civil Engineering is required.
• Professional Engineering registration is highly preferred.
• 3+ years of relevant civil/structural engineering experience.
• Experience with IBC, ASCE, AISC, ACI codes and standards.
• CAD software experience (AutoCAD and/or MicroStation) required.
• Strong communication skills and ability to lead teams.

Responsibilities

• Perform design of civil/structural engineering assignments under supervision.
• Develop conceptual layouts and preliminary designs for cost studies.
• Produce calculations, sketches, and material take-offs for construction.
• Check calculations for accuracy and code conformance.
• Coordinate with drafting and design leaders across disciplines.
• Review vendor drawings and construction submittals for conformance.
