Job summary

General Dynamics Electric Boat seeks a Solid Mechanics engineer to apply structural analysis, advanced computational methods, and material science expertise to submarines in a dynamic team environment.

The role involves solving complex problems, performing risk assessments, and contributing to design and manufacturing evaluations while producing technical reports and presentations for Navy and industry partners.

Qualifications

• BS in Civil (structures), Mechanical, or Aerospace (structures) engineering required.
• 1–4 years of post-graduate engineering experience required.
• Experience using Finite Element Modeling and Analysis software preferred.

Responsibilities

• Solve complex structural-mechanical problems and support practical design solutions.
• Perform risk assessments and evaluate manufacturing processes.
• Author technical reports, presentations, and formal correspondence.
• Collaborate in a team with engineers from multiple disciplines and with Navy/industry partners.
