Job summary

Great Bay Staffing Group is seeking a Structural Engineer in the Pittsburgh area to design structural systems for commercial, industrial, institutional, and residential projects from concept through construction administration.

You will perform analyses for steel, concrete, masonry, and wood, coordinate with multiple disciplines, and guide CAD/Revit staff. A 3+ year consulting background and EIT are expected; PE preferred or attainable soon. Hybrid work available.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering with a focus in Structural Engineering.
Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification.
PE license preferred or obtainable within a reasonable timeframe.
At least 3 years of structural engineering experience in a consulting environment.
Strong knowledge of building codes, design standards and industry best practices.
Excellent organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
Strong written and verbal communication skills with clients and project teams.

Responsibilities

Design structural systems for commercial, industrial, institutional, and residential projects from schematic through construction administration.
Perform structural analysis and calculations for steel, concrete, masonry, and wood structures.
Develop economical structural solutions meeting project objectives.
Coordinate designs with architectural, mechanical, electrical, plumbing, civil, and geotechnical disciplines.
Review specifications and drawings to build complete structural designs.
Direct CAD and Revit designers on construction documents.
Check documents for quality, accuracy, and completeness.
Participate in planning meetings, design reviews, and coordination meetings with clients and stakeholders.
Conduct site visits, field observations, and inspections to confirm design intent.
Respond to RFIs and review shop drawings during construction.
Manage multiple projects with schedules, budgets, and quality control.
