Job summary

MKEC Engineering, Inc. in Overland Park, KS is seeking a Structural Engineer to join our team.

This role involves assisting with the design and production of detailed drawings, performing structural calculations, and participating in client meetings to ensure design meets objectives. The position requires a BS in Civil/Structural or Architectural Engineering from an ABET-accredited program, 3–6 years of experience, and proficiency with AutoCAD, CadWorx, Revit, and RISA.

Qualifications

  • B.S. in Civil/Structural or Architectural Engineering from an ABET-accredited program.
  • 3-6 years of relevant experience.
  • PE license in Kansas is preferred (or on track to obtain a PE license).
  • Exposure to Structural Drafting software (AutoCAD, CadWorx, Revit, etc.).
  • Exposure to Structural Analysis software (RISA, etc.).
  • Highly organized, self-motivated, and able to handle multiple project tasks.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel).
  • Ability to work under pressure, be self-directed, exhibit good business judgment, and handle confidential information appropriately.

  • Complete structural calculations with different design materials, specifically with steel and concrete.
  • Assist in the selection of the appropriate building materials.
  • Prepare cost estimates for capital projects.
  • Prepare and assist with project proposals, interviews, and client presentations.
  • Attend client meetings to ensure the design meets their needs and objectives.
  • Provide leadership, guidance, and instruction to production staff.

Job description

We’re looking for a Structural Engineer to join our team at our Overland Park, KS location (in office). This individual will assist with the design of a variety of industrial projects that may include equipment foundations, pipe racks, vessel replacements, etc., and commercial projects that may include schools, churches, hospitals, hotels, office buildings, etc.
