Job summary

Advantage Technical seeks a highly skilled Structural Engineer to join our Houston, TX team on a long-term assignment. The role focuses on industrial and heavy commercial projects, requiring extensive steel/concrete design knowledge and proficiency with STAAD Pro, RISA, RAM, AutoCAD, and Revit.

You will collaborate with process, mechanical, electrical, and controls teams, review vendor drawings, and support scheduling and cost tracking. Travel is limited to under 5%.

Qualifications

• 5–10+ years of industrial structural engineering experience within an EPC environment.
• Proven track record of delivering industrial or heavy commercial projects (e.g., data centers, petrochemical, power generation, manufacturing, water/wastewater, etc.).
• Solid understanding of steel and concrete design principles and construction practices.
• Proficiency in structural analysis/design software (STAAD Pro, RISA, RAM, or equivalent) and CAD tools (AutoCAD, Revit).
• Excellent communication, teamwork, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to travel to project sites and sub-vendor facilities as needed (estimated <5% of time).
• Develop and review structural designs for foundations (shallow and deep), equipment supports, pipe racks, platforms, retaining walls, and industrial building structures.
• Perform structural analysis of steel and concrete components using industry-standard software (e.g., STAAD. Pro, RISA, SAP2000, or similar).
• Prepare construction drawings, calculations, specifications, and material take-offs that meet project and code requirements.
• Ensure compliance with IBC, ASCE 7, AISC, ACI, AWS, OSHA, and client specifications.
• Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams (process, mechanical, electrical, instrumentation, and controls) throughout the project lifecycle.
• Review vendor drawings and submittals and resolve technical discrepancies.
• Participate in hazard studies, design reviews, and client meetings.
• Support project scheduling, cost tracking, and progress reporting.
