Job summary

PNA is seeking a motivated Structural Engineer in Houston with 3–5 years of experience to support analysis, design, and delivery of commercial and industrial projects. Under senior engineers, you will own defined design tasks and coordinate with multidisciplinary teams to produce high-quality deliverables.

This role offers hands-on exposure to diverse projects, a clear path toward PE licensure, and opportunities for technical leadership in a fast-growing firm.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil or Structural Engineering required.
  • 3–5 years of structural engineering experience in commercial and/or industrial projects.
  • Working knowledge of U.S. design codes (ASCE, AISC, ACI, IBC).
  • Experience with structural analysis and design software such as ETABS, SAP2000, RAM, RISA, STAAD, or similar.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD (Revit experience is a plus).
  • Strong technical writing, organizational, and communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Perform structural analysis and design for steel, reinforced concrete, masonry, and foundation systems for commercial and industrial facilities.
  • Design structural systems including: Steel frames, braced frames, and moment frames; foundations and equipment foundations.
  • Apply governing codes and standards including ASCE 7, AISC, ACI, IBC, and local amendments.
  • Prepare structural calculations, design reports, and technical memoranda.
  • Develop and review construction drawings and details using AutoCAD and/or Revit.
  • Coordinate structural designs with architectural, civil, geotechnical, and MEP disciplines.
  • Support submittal reviews, RFIs, and construction administration activities.
  • Assist with project planning, scope development, and schedule coordination.
  • Communicate effectively with internal teams, clients, contractors, and reviewers.
  • Participate in internal design reviews and quality control processes.
  • Work toward Professional Engineer (PE) licensure.
  • Stay current with evolving codes, design tools, and industry best practices.

Job description

PNA is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Structural Engineer with 3–5 years of experience to support the analysis, design, and delivery of commercial and industrial structural projects. The ideal candidate will work under the guidance of senior engineers while taking ownership of defined design tasks, coordinating with multidisciplinary teams, and producing high-quality engineering deliverables in compliance with applicable codes and standards.

This role provides hands-on exposure to real-world structures, fast-growing project types, and a clear pathway toward professional licensure and technical leadership.

Key Responsibilities
  • 1. Perform structural analysis and design for steel, reinforced concrete, masonry, and foundation systems for commercial and industrial facilities
  • 2. Design structural systems including:
    • Steel frames, braced frames, and moment frames
    • Shallow and deep foundations (spread footings, mats, drilled piers, helical piles)
    • Industrial equipment foundations, pipe racks, platforms, and slabs
  • 3. Apply governing codes and standards including ASCE 7, AISC, ACI, IBC, and local amendments
  • 4. Prepare structural calculations, design reports, and technical memoranda
  • 5. Develop and review construction drawings and details using AutoCAD and/or Revit
  • 6. Coordinate structural designs with architectural, civil, geotechnical, and MEP disciplines
  • 7. Support submittal reviews, RFIs, and construction administration activities
  • 8. Assist with project planning, scope development, and schedule coordination
  • 9. Communicate effectively with internal teams, clients, contractors, and reviewers

Required Qualifications

  • Familiarity with construction-phase engineering support
