Job summary

Amentum is seeking a Structural Dynamics Engineer to support NASA/Mars-related programs in Huntsville, AL. The role focuses on developing dynamic loads for launch vehicles and spacecraft, building FEMs, and running simulations with LS-Dyna, NASTRAN, and other tools.

You will work with cross-functional teams, participate in reviews, and deliver technical presentations while documenting results for internal and external stakeholders.

Qualifications

• ABET-accredited engineering degree required.
• US citizenship and STAR ID required.
• 8+ years of experience with MS or 10+ years with BS.
• Willingness to travel up to 5% and relocate to Huntsville area.

Responsibilities

• Develop structural dynamic models and simulations for Launch Vehicles and Spacecraft across multiple loading events.
• Produce/maintain FEMs in NASTRAN/FEMAP; perform Hurty/Craig-Bampton reductions.
• Develop and run in-house tools (Matlab/Python) and LS-Dyna/Adams simulations.
• Participate in reviews and present results to customers and providers.
• Analyze/test data and publish detailed reports.
