Job Description

The Structural Designer/Inspector 1 is responsible for applying standard techniques, procedures, and criteria to assigned tasks within larger projects.

This role involves gaining a general understanding of professional and ethical responsibilities, working on multiple projects, and acquiring knowledge of related fields as part of a multidisciplinary team. Supervision decreases with experience and judgment.

We aim to contribute to safe, quality infrastructure designs that support our community's transportation needs.

Typical Duties

• Complete or review structural design computations, sketches, reports, costs, and other documents under supervision.
• Ensure compliance with design standards and criteria.
• Develop full sets of structural drawings and check against standards.
• Review fabricator shop drawings for compliance.
• Coordinate design elements with team members and external partners.
• Represent Susquehanna Civil at networking events and develop client relationships.
• Assist in preparing files for field inspections.
• Perform structural inspections in the field with oversight, and compile inspection reports.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Skills, Experience, & Certifications

• Professional License: EIT (preferred)
• Experience: 0-5 years
• Certifications: Certified Bridge Safety Inspector (a plus) or ability to obtain

• Basic understanding of structural design principles.
• Knowledge of fundamental engineering mathematics (algebra, trigonometry, calculus).
• Problem-solving skills.
