Job summary

CECO Environmental is seeking a mid‑level Structural Designer II to produce accurate 3D models, drawings, and material take‑offs for heavy industrial equipment and hot exhaust ducting systems. This role supports the design of ducting associated with pollution control equipment downstream of combustion turbines and boilers.

The position emphasizes depth in large‑scale ducting, collaboration with senior designers and engineers, and adherence to design standards.

Qualifications

• Associate’s degree in CAD/Drafting/Engineering Technology required.
• 3–5 years of experience in industrial structural or mechanical design.
• Experience producing industrial ductwork or plate structures, preferably in heavy industrial settings.
• Proficiency in 3D modeling and fabrication‑ready drawings.
• Ability to perform basic geometric and material quantity calculations accurately.

Responsibilities

• Prepare 3D CAD models, fabrication drawings, and material take‑offs for heavy industrial equipment and ducting systems.
• Assist in designing hot exhaust and flue gas ducting, including casings and transitions.
• Develop drawings for customer review, material procurement, and fabrication.
• Incorporate input related to thermal expansion, operating temperature, and loads.
• Coordinate ducting layouts with equipment like SCR reactors, baghouses, ESPs, dampers, and expansion joints.
• Review project inputs for completeness and raise questions to senior designers or engineers.
• Perform geometric and material calculations to support drawings and material lists.
• Revise drawings based on reviews, comments, and fabrication feedback.
• Participate in interdisciplinary coordination with Engineering, Project Management, and Sales.
• Follow document control procedures for drawing issuance and revisions.
