Job summary

EXP Services Inc. in Chicago is seeking a Structural Designer/Engineer focused on buildings projects in aviation, transit, and mission-critical facilities. You will join a Building Structures team reporting to the Director, with opportunities to collaborate across US offices.

The role involves calculations, drawings, and multi-discipline coordination, plus occasional travel. A Bachelor’s in civil engineering with structures focus is minimum; Master’s preferred, EIT pursued, and Revit RAM ETABS

Qualifications

• Targeted experience level is 0-3 years with a focus on building design.
• Solid understanding of various structural analysis software such as RAM, RISA, ETABS.
• Strong Revit skills in both modeling and sheet creation at a minimum.
• Working towards EIT.
• Master’s degree in Structural Engineering is preferred. A Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering w/ an emphasis on structures and/or relevant advanced coursework is considered a minimum requirement.
• Hold excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Generally, take direction from senior engineers and project leads. Expect autonomy and independence to be commensurate with experience.
• Calculations, sketches, drawing production, specifications, multi-discipline coordination should be expected on a regular basis.
• Conducting observations of and evaluating existing conditions in both the field and via existing historical drawings are commonplace.
• Expect to work on multiple projects concurrently that require coordination of work between multiple EXP offices, as well as outside consultants.
• Occasional short-term travel to project sites. Usually, a single night or two at a time.
• Flexible hours and hybrid office attendance.
