Job summary

Thompson Engineering seeks a Junior to Mid-Level Structural Designer with AutoCAD and REVIT experience to grow within a collaborative engineering environment. You will develop structural drawings for bridges, transportation structures, retaining walls, buildings, and waterfront projects, translating concepts into constructible plans.

You will work closely with engineers, apply DOT/AASHTO standards, and expand skills in MicroStation and Bentley tools while supporting project delivery and CAD

Qualifications

• Associate's degree or technical certification in CAD, Drafting, or related field.
• 0–8+ years of structural design or drafting experience
• Experience with AutoCAD required
• Experience with REVIT preferred
• MicroStation experience is a plus

Responsibilities

• Develop and revise structural drawings and construction documents using AutoCAD and/or REVIT
• Assist with development of structural plans, elevations, sections, details, and related design documentation
• Support the design and detailing of bridges, retaining walls, transportation structures, and other infrastructure
• Translate engineering concepts, sketches, calculations, and markups into accurate design drawings
• Work closely with structural engineers and other project team members to support design development
• Learn and apply applicable DOT standards, AASHTO guidelines, building codes, and other project specific requirements
• Perform quality control reviews of drawings and design documents prepared by others
• Maintain organized project files and follow established CAD and corporate design standards
• Develop proficiency in Microstation and other Bentley software as applicable in addition to AutoCAD and REVIT
• Support project schedules, deadlines, and coordination with internal teams
• Participate in training and professional development to expand structural design capabilities
• Perform other duties as assigned to support project and department needs including site visits and field inspections
