Job summary

ESI Inc. of Tennessee seeks multiple Structural Steel Designers in Kennesaw, GA with 5–15 years of heavy industrial experience. You will prepare design models, review drawings, and coordinate with engineers to ensure accuracy and compliance.

Proficiency in Tekla 3D is required; AutoCAD/Plant 3D and Navisworks are a plus. Occasional travel (5–10%) and a hybrid work model are offered.

Qualifications

  • Five to fifteen years of structural steel design experience.
  • Experience designing and drafting structural steel systems in a heavy industrial environment.
  • Proficient with Tekla 3D Software.
  • Experience with AutoCAD and Plant 3D is a PLUS.
  • Experience with Navisworks model review software.
  • Specific EPC experience in steam and power projects is a PLUS.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare design models and drawings for structural systems construction.
  • Collaborate with project engineers throughout the design process.
  • Review steel models and drawings for errors and omissions.
  • Review contract documents for compliance.
  • Review vendor drawings for compliance and accuracy.
  • Assist in preparing drawing lists and estimating man-hours at project kickoff.
  • Attend weekly project meetings and review progress.
  • Establish weekly project working agenda.
  • Coordinate with mechanical and electrical engineers on design.
  • Review and update BIM/CAD standards for accuracy and efficiency.
  • Participate in company-wide project/model meetings.
  • Travel to site as needed (approximately 5–10%).

Job description

ESI is seeking multiple talented Structural Steel Designers to join our team in Kennesaw, Georgia. This position requires five to fifteen years of experience as a Structural Steel Designer in a heavy industrial environment.

Responsibilities:

  • Prepare design models and drawings to facilitate timely and cost-effective construction of structural systems
  • Collaborate with project civil/structural engineers throughout the design process
  • Review structural steel models and drawings for errors and omissions
  • Review project contract documents throughout the project to ensure compliance
  • Review vendor drawings for errors and omissions and to ensure contract compliance
  • Assist in preparing the drawing list, estimating man-hours, etc., at the kick-off of each project
  • Attend weekly project meetings to review design and project progress
  • Establish the project working agenda for each week
  • Coordinate with mechanical and electrical engineers and designers on project design
  • Review and update BIM / CAD Standards as needed to ensure accuracy and efficiency
  • Participate in company-wide project / model meetings
  • Travel to the field as needed throughout the duration of the project (approximately 5-10%)

Requirements:

  • Five to fifteen years of structural steel design experience
  • Experience designing and drafting structural steel systems in a heavy industrial environment
  • Knowledge of industry codes and standards
  • Proficient with the latest version of Tekla 3D Software
  • Experience with the latest version of AutoCAD and Plant 3D is a PLUS
  • Experience with the Navisworks model review software
  • Specific experience working for an EPC Company involved in steam and power projects would be a PLUS
