Qualifications

  • Five years designing and constructing steam/power plants.
  • Five years as Project Engineer leading a multi-disciplinary EPC team.
  • Experience writing equipment specifications for pumps, boilers, turbines, piping.
  • Familiarity with GA drawings and P&IDs; code knowledge welcomed.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the design and engineering effort for the project.
  • Assist Project Manager with initial project schedule development.
  • Coordinate resources with Engineering Department Managers.
  • Review drawings and specs to ensure contract compliance.
  • Coordinate vendor quotes, procurement, field engineering, and construction support.
  • Manage engineering schedule, deliverables, and project controls.
  • Manage RFI and DCN processes and communicate impacts on schedule/budget.
  • Respond to client design/engineering questions.

Job description

ESI is seeking a Project Engineer to join our team in Kennesaw, Georgia. The Project Engineer will lead the project-specific, multi-disciplined group of engineers throughout the duration of the project. This position requires a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering, five years of experience in the design and construction of steam and power generation plants, and five years of experience as a Project Engineer leading a multi-disciplined team in an EPC Environment.

Responsibilities:
  • Lead the overall design and engineering effort for a project
  • Assist Project Manager and Project Controls with the development of the initial project schedule
  • Coordinate resources with the Engineering Department Managers
  • Review project drawings and specifications to maintain contract compliance
  • Coordinate vendor quotations, equipment procurement, field engineering, and construction support
  • Manage engineering schedule, status of deliverables, and continually update project controls
  • Manage Request for Information (RFI) Process
  • Manage Design Change Notice (DCN) Process
  • Communicate impacts to overall schedule and budget with Project Manager
  • Respond to all design/engineering questions from the client
Requirements:
  • Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering
  • Five years of experience in the design and construction of steam and power generation plants
  • Five years of experience as a Project Engineer leading a multi-disciplined team in an EPC Environment
  • Experience writing equipment specifications for some of the following: pumps, material handling systems, ash handling systems, boilers, heat exchangers, air pollution control equipment, water treatment, compressed air systems, turbine generators and piping systems
  • Experience with general arrangement (GA) drawings and P&IDs
  • Experience with package or power boilers, power boiler fuel-conversions, steam turbines, heat recovery steam generators, and combined heat and power (CHP)
  • Ability to interpret and understand architectural, civil, structural, mechanical, and electrical engineering drawings
  • Ability to work with multi-disciplined projects including civil, structural, process, mechanical, instrumentation, controls, and electrical
  • Knowledge of applicable codes, policies, standards, and best practices
  • Proficient with Bluebeam, Autodesk Construction Cloud, and Procore
  • PE License preferred but not required
