Job summary

Carlson Design Group is seeking a talented Structural Engineer III to join our growing engineering team, supporting Data Center, Light Industrial, and Commercial sectors as we expand. Location: Atlanta, GA, with some travel; office Monday through Wednesday, remote Thursday and Friday.

This role leads design efforts, mentors engineers, and delivers contracts while ensuring quality and budget adherence. Travel and collaboration across teams are expected.

Qualifications

• BSCE in Structural Engineering from an accredited college or university.
• 8+ years related work experience.
• Licensed Engineer (at least one state) and NCEES Accredited (preferred).
• Strong computer skills in structural analysis programs and design software.
• Valid driver's license required.
• Ideally, data center experience and precast/tilt-up concrete design.

Responsibilities

• Lead structural engineer responsible for scoping projects and coordinating with other disciplines.
• Solve difficult problems requiring creative solutions in steel, concrete, masonry, wood, and light-gage steel designs.
• Provide technical design support and oversee development of less-experienced engineers.
• Prepare and review Contract Documents in line with the project program, schedule, and budget.

Overview

Carlson Design Group is seeking a talented Structural Engineer III to join our growing engineering team. This role will support clients across the Data Center, Light Industrial, and Commercial sectors as part of our continued business expansion.

Location: Atlanta, GA, including some travel. We work from the office Monday through Wednesday, and remote on Thursday and Friday.

Responsibilities

Your key responsibilities include:

• Acts as the lead structural engineer responsible for scoping the project, coordinating with other disciplines, obtaining necessary information to execute the work, and preparing conceptual designs, corrections to field issues as well as complete designs.
• Requires an experienced, competent individual capable of successfully solving difficult problems that require creative solutions in structural steel, reinforced concrete, reinforced masonry, wood, and light-gage steel designs.
• Provide technical design support to the design team including overseeing and assisting with the development of less-experienced engineers.
• Responsible for the preparation and review of Contract Documents in compliance with the project program, building design, schedule and budget.

Qualifications

To qualify for the role, you must have:

• BSCE in Structural Engineering from an accredited college or university.
• 8+ years related work experience.
• Licensed Engineer (at least one state) and NCEES Accredited (preferred).
• Strong computer skills in structural analysis programs, e.g., RAM software suite, ENERCALC, AutoCAD, Revit and competency with Microsoft Office Suite and Bluebeam.
• Valid driver's license required.

Ideally, you'll also have:

• Data Center experience is a plus.
• Precast, reinforced (tilt-up) concrete design.
