Job summary

Kiewit Power Engineers seeks a Structural Design Engineer to support construction projects through innovative design, calculations, and plan development. The role emphasizes scheduling tasks to meet client needs while mitigating risk to construction crews.

We seek a mid- to senior‑level engineer with leadership potential, strong technical skills, and the ability to coordinate with internal and external partners on power generation projects.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil, Structural or Architectural engineering from an ABET‑accredited four‑year program.
• At least 5‑years of experience in structural engineering and design.
• Experience in the power industry or industrial markets is preferred.
• Proficient with spreadsheets, databases, word processing, and general computer operations.
• Familiar with engineering standards including ASCE 7, ACI 318, AISC 360, and IBC.
• Licensed Professional Engineer preferred.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills in English.

Responsibilities

• Prepare designs for assigned structure(s) including research, lateral force resisting system selection, analysis, and drawing preparation for power generation projects.
• Apply department and industry standards when preparing calculations, drawings, and specifications.
• Ensure compliance with EPC contracts, customer RFPs, and professional service agreements.
• Research new markets and adapt processes to deliver projects on time.
• Coordinate with cross‑discipline teams, construction, vendors, and owners to address structural issues.
• Prepare, monitor, and update project plans, schedules, and budgets.
• Support managers in achieving department performance goals.
